Get Educated
For some of us - our dream job seems to stop dead because we are not qualified. The first thing you need to ask is why?
-
Are you simply scared to take the plunge or do you rely on excuses to keep in "in your place"?
-
Maybe you are just kidding yourself. All this talk of what you dream of doing is just that talk.
-
Or maybe you just don't want it bad enough...
No one is judging you here. You are judge and jury, but now's the time to "fess up". Do you really want what you
say you want?
If the answer is "no" fine. Dig a bit deeper and find that thing you want more than anything else. If you need help go to our
"Explore Options" page and start dreaming.
If you're answer is "yes", then what's stopping you? Go for it! Consider Chris Gardner's story in the movie "The Pursuit of
Happiness"...
In the movie, Will Smith portrays Chris Gardener - a real life success story. He didn't start out that way.
-
He invested his last dime in a product nobody wanted.
-
His wife left him.
-
He had a child to support and find day care for.
-
He had no money.
-
He was homeless.
-
His car was repossessed.
-
He was in jail.
-
He had an interview for the job he really wanted
How bad can things get?
And yet he got released from jail and literally ran to his job interview - making it just in time to show up
before the interview board covered in paint, shirtless and out of breath.
He got the job - an internship paying only a monthly stipend. Only one intern out of the group would be
offered a permanment job.
Undaunted Chris did what it took to land the permanment position and succeeded - still homeless - still the
sole support of his child.

So say again? What is stopping you?
No one is trying to be cruel here - just blunt. If you are ready to pursue your dream - nothing should get in your way.
Now about that education. We've found a couple of resources to help.
If you need a certification or a license then we recommend checking out 360training.com They offer a wide variety
of options to get you qualified for your next career step.
If you need a college degree you still have a lot of options. Nearly every community has a college or university to get
you started or take you all the way.
One of the first questions many ask is "How am I going to pay for it?" Why not check out "FastWeb" for some college green?

Many people today need more options. Online or Distance Learning is becoming more and more popular every day... and more accepted.
Degrees from legitimate online educators are often accredited by one or more organizations, but not always. If you want to work in
an area where accredidation is important be sure to do your homework! For example:
To become a paralegal you have many options available from getting a certificate to earning an associates degree or even a bachelor's degree.
However not all programs - even from good schools (online and offline) meet the American Bar Association's guidlines. Some paralegal jobs
require an ABA approved certificate or degree!
It's your job to make sure the program you commit to meets the requirements of the position you want!
As a rule, you may want to opt for the highest qualification standard available even though it almost always costs a bit more. In the example
above, completion of an ABA approved program is not likely to be challenged by any employer.
We are still searching for a good resource to help you find the right college for you. We will post our recommendation as soon as
possible so please check back.
